Fremantle has upgraded Victorian recruit Matt Taberner ahead of Sunday’s Indigenous Round clash with Melbourne.

The 19-year-old key position player is now available for selection after Kepler Bradley was moved onto the long-term injury list.

Taberner has made a meteoric rise since making his WAFL league debut for Peel Thunder in round 6 of the state competition.

He had 25 disposals and three goals last weekend.

Freo assistant and senior development coach Simon Lloyd described Taberner as a real "workhorse" in this week’s WAFL Watch.

"He has a great running ability and a lot of his run equates to what you would expect at AFL level," Lloyd said.

"He has a real appetite for hard work."

Lloyd said Taberner's professionalism had also impressed.

"He’s shown real professionalism and he is becoming more confident around the group and he is doing what is expected of an AFL footballer."
