Three Fremantle players have made the AFLW Team of the Week following Fremantle’s 45-point RAC Derby win over the West Coast Eagles on Saturday at Optus Stadium.
Defenders: Sarah Allan (Adelaide), Evie Gooch (Fremantle), Stacey Livingstone (Collingwood), Phoebe Monahan (Richmond), Daisy Pearce (Melbourne)
Evie Gooch played a crucial role across half back, locking down West Coast half forward Ashlee Atkins. Gooch also made her presence felt up the ground, charging out of defence throughout the game, using her run and carry to deliver to the wing with 10 out of her 11 disposals coming from her boot.
Midfielders: Parris Laurie (West Coast, ruck), Emily Bates (Brisbane), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Jenna Bruton (North Melbourne), Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Jamie Stanton (Gold Coast)
Creating history by winning the first Best On Ground medal, Kiara Bowers was ferocious in the midfield, finishing Saturday’s game with an incredible 18 tackles to go with her 13 disposals and two marks. Bowers also earned a nomination for the AFLW MVP of the week which fans can vote on here.
Forwards: Sophie Conway (Brisbane), Courtney Gum (Adelaide), Gabby O'Sullivan (Fremantle), Shelley Scott (Melbourne), Jesse Wardlaw (Brisbane)
Kicking the first goal in the AFLW RAC Derby, O’Sullivan was busy in the forward line for Fremantle. She proved a tough opponent for defenders, constantly moving between full forward and the wing to help fellow forwards Roxanne Roux and Gemma Houghton impact the scoreboard.
