We recorded an 82-point victory over North Melbourne in round one of 2019, making it the best start to a home and away season in our history.

Training with the stars
Ahead of our round three Starlight Purple Haze Game, one of our Starlight Stars Matthew, soon to be the Docker for a Day, joined the boys for a training session. Sporting the number 10 on the back of his jumper quickly drew the attention of fan-favourite Michael Walters to pose for a photo, giving Matthew a moment he’ll cherish forever

Rory Lobb
“LOBB! He’s having an impact up forward tonight!” yelled Fox footy commentator Adam Papalia as Rory’s third goal sailed through the big sticks. Lobby was everywhere in this game, with his three majors in round 18 helping us get across the line for a one-point win in what was a low-scoring affair against the Swans.

Leaders driving Freo
Watching our AFLW girls reach the heights of the 2019 preliminary final was certainly a proud moment for us all, and our 2020 AFLW leadership group will be a huge driving factor for our efforts in 2020. They will be setting the standards for their teammates both on and off the field. Gabby O’Sullivan, Kiara Bowers, Ebony Antonio, Hayley Miller and our skipper, Kara Antonio, take a bow.

Bowers becomes best
In her debut season since missing the opening two due to knee injuries, Kiara Bowers took out the club’s Fairest and Best award. Bowers received a perfect 20 for her round five performance against the Western Bulldogs, a rare occurrence for the awards and a huge achievement for the woman we call ‘Turbo’.

A fist pump from Fyfe
When Fyfey is up and about, we’re up and about too. Sonny may have been the after the siren match winner against the Lions in round 10, but our skipper lead from the front picking up three Brownlow votes. It would go on to be one of NINE three-vote performances of Fyfe’s 2019 season.

Seven fresh faces
Alongside a draft haul that was highlighted by top-10 picks Hayden Young, Caleb Serong and Liam Henry, we added a lot of talent throughout the rest of the AFL draft period. From bolstering our wing stocks with pick no.61 Michael Frederick, to the diverse talent in our NGA products Isaiah Butters and Leno Thomas, as well as Rookie Draft pick no.6 Jarvis Pina, we gave Fremantle fans a lot to be excited about for the future.

Captain Antonio
In 2020 we’ll be seeing two Antonio’s on the footy field, with our skipper Kara Donnellan (now Antonio) and teammate Ebony Antonio tying the knot back in October this year. Now officially Freo’s best power couple on and off the field the two will look to take our AFLW team to the next level in 2020, building on what was an already excellent 2019.

Fremantle’s greatest team
In celebration of our 25-year history, we announced our greatest ever team at the club’s gala ball in June this year. Revealing the best 25 players who have played for the club since 1995 as voted by our fans through the Fremantle Dockers app, the night saw the likes of legends Matthew Pavlich, Shaun McManus, Dale Kickett, Jeff Farmer and many more return to Freo one more time.
