Fremantle rookie Odin Jones has undergone spinal surgery after falling awkwardly last night and fracturing a vertebrae in his spine.

“This was a freak accident and Odin is now in the care of specialists following surgery this morning. He will now have a couple of weeks in hospital while we await advice on his recovery timeline,” said Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty.

“The thoughts of everyone at Fremantle are with Odin and his family at this time.”

The 19-year-old was selected from West Perth with pick number five in last year's Rookie Draft and recently signed a one-year contract extension to remain on the rookie list until the end of the 2025 season.
