Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon thinks the dreaded six-day break is just part of AFL footy.

His side face Richmond at Domain Stadium on Friday night just six days after playing the Crows in Adelaide.

Lyon said it was important to play good football, whether coming off a short or long break between games.

“You deal with it all the time,” he said.

“We just deal with what is in front of us.

“We’ve got the same preparation (as Richmond).”

Lyon said the cumulative effects of six-day breaks may take a toll on players but all clubs had to deal with it.

“Sometimes you play better footy (off a six-day break) but when you lose people want to blame a six-day break,” he said.

“There is certainly a cumulative effect, there is no doubt about that.

“It’s harder six days off travel but it’s about playing good footy.”

Lyon said good teams won, no matter what.

He said Geelong proved that during its long reign near the top of the ladder from 2007 to 2011.

“They didn’t talk about their prep, they just played good footy,” he said.

Fremantle play Richmond at Domain Stadium on Friday 5 June. Bounce down is at 6.10pm.
