Fremantle’s first to fourth-year players paid their respects at the Anzac Centenary dawn service at Monument Hill Memorial Reserve on Saturday morning.
It is a club tradition that has been instilled to educate the younger players about Australia’s history.

Roger Hayden has experienced the ceremony both as a player and now as a development coach for the next generation.
“The club’s been doing it for years,” he said.
“It’s just about letting the boys experience something special and learn about our history.
“100 years ago there were kids at the same age giving their lives for their country.
“We want the boys to acknowledge that they’re living in a place where they are free to do whatever they want because of the sacrifices young men and women gave a century ago.
“It’s about acknowledging that…something we’re very grateful for.”
Hayden said he was proud of the club’s great tradition for its younger players.
“It’s a special day for all Australians,” he said.
“Everyone should feel very lucky that we live in a great country where we are free do what we want, especially myself with a young family.
“It’s a great thing that the footy club does for all the young guys coming through.”
