McCarthy saga won’t sway Pav

The West Australian

Fremantle’s bid to lure Greater Western Sydney key forward Cam McCarthy will not have any bearing on whether captain Matthew Pavlich decides to play on, according to club chief executive Steve Rosich.

Pavlich, set to turn 34 on December 31, is yet to announce whether he will press on into a 17th season in 2016.

The club expects to have a final decision on his playing future within a fortnight. Fremantle would almost certainly need it before their list lodgement at the end of the month.

CAM McCarthy's manager has implored Giants coach Leon Cameron and chief executive Dave Matthews to meet with the key forward's parents and discuss his desire to return home.

The 20-year-old, who is contracted to Greater Western Sydney until the end of 2017, informed the club he was homesick and wanted to move back to his home state of Western Australia.
