Fremantle development coach Simon Lloyd says Peel Thunder players who were called up to the AFL side last week will bring back plenty of lessons to the WAFL club.

Four Fremantle-listed players for Peel, Connor Blakely, Brady GreyEthan Hughes and Jacob Ballard, debuted for Fremantle against Port Adelaide on Saturday.

The four are expected to return to Peel duties in a cut-throat semi-final against East Perth on Sunday at Bendigo Bank Stadium.

It will be an historic day for the club, its first home final.

Lloyd said the exposure to the intensity of AFL football was priceless experience that would help the players in this year’s WAFL finals.

“For our development academy to be exposed to what AFL football is all about, will only help in building their experience,” he said.

East Perth head into Sunday’s clash after a hard-fought 32-point win over Claremont in an Elimination Final.

“The key for East Perth is there spread of midfield goals,” Lloyd said.

“They have a lot of strong drive from their mids.”

“They played some really good footy against Claremont.

“We know what we’re up against, it’s an exciting challenge.”

Lloyd said Peel’s philosophy heading into the final remained as it had all year.

“It will be identical to what it’s been all season, our main focus is on effort and execution of roles,” he said.

“We’ve had three games against East Perth throughout the year, we won round five and 12, lost round 21.

“They’ve all been close encounters.

“We’ll be well prepared.”
