After a 72-point loss to Hawthorn, the focus at Fremantle this week is firmly on its own game, says senior coach Ross Lyon.
While the coaches will spend time analysing Carlton ahead of Saturday night’s clash at Domain Stadium, Lyon said fixing Fremantle’s on-field issues was priority.
“I’ve been squarely focused on fixing us,” Lyon said.
“There have been some good lessons over the last few weeks.
“It doesn’t matter what you know about the opposition, if you can’t get yourself right, you can’t win.”
Among Fremantle’s concerns will be more effective scoring from inside-50s, clearance work and structures.
Lyon hinted at a number of changes for the match against the Blues and already confirmed ruckman Jon Griffin would play his first senior game for 2015 on Saturday.
Carlton has recorded two of its three wins under interim coach John Barker, something Lyon said is often typical when a new coach arrives.
“I think like Mick (Malthouse) said when you get a new coach and a replacement, it’s human nature (to respond),” he said.
“They are competing and running.
“We’ll have a look at them later today.”
Fremantle play Carlton at Domain Stadium on Saturday 18 July. Bounce down is at 5.40pm.
