Fremantle will be forced to make least two changes for their clash against the Gold Coast Suns, with Michael Barlow (shoulder) and Hayden Ballantyne (cheekbone) set to miss through injury.

Here’s who could be in the running to take the field at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Josh Deluca
The midfielder turned in another strong performance for Peel on Saturday, gathering 23 possessions and a goal in the Thunder’s 43-point win against East Fremantle. Deluca has steadily increased his output throughout the season, and looks comfortable playing a role similar to that of teammate Nick Suban. With Ross Lyon keen to understand the depth of his list, the 20-year-old looks likely to make his senior debut before the end of 2016.

Matt de Boer
In a Peel midfield largely lacking in experience, de Boer’s fitness and body-work stood out. The 26-year-old was influential in the wet, amassing 29 possessions and 12 tackles in another tireless performance. If the selectors wish for a player to emulate Barlow’s role as a ball-winning tagger, de Boer – who closely matches his teammate for height, weight, experience and endurance – presents as a likely candidate.

Shane Yarran
Another like-for-like scenario would see Yarran make his senior debut in place of Hayden Ballantyne. The former Subiaco premiership star kicked two goals on the weekend, but lacked the supply to have a profound impact. Lyon has indicated his eagerness to expose Yarran to AFL action, and with no other versatile forwards waiting in the wings, now seems as good a time as ever.

Darcy Tucker
Tucker had a productive afternoon, gathering 27 possessions and six tackles across the wing and half-back. The nineteen-year-old has shown promise in his first season, and appears composed against bigger-bodied opponents. After responding well to his omission, the coaches may reintroduce him to the seniors sooner rather than later.

Ethan Hughes
Though not as prolific as his teammates, Hughes showed clean hands and poise across half-back, on his way to 16 possessions and four marks. The defender has looked sharp since returning from a calf injury two weeks ago, and is beginning to mount a case to play his first senior match since round nine. However, he faces a stiff task breaking into Freo’s backline, which is looking more settled by the week.
