Fremantle wingman Darcy Tucker described winning the WAFL Grand Final with Peel Thunder as “an unbelievable feeling” on Sunday.
The 19-year-old, who gathered 21 touches against Subiaco on Sunday, believes the bond between the players was an important factor in the team’s success.
“We’ve come together every week and get that united feeling through the way that we play,” he said.
“Although we don’t train together, we’ve got a very strong bond.”
Peel became the first team to win the WAFL Grand Final from fourth place since East Fremantle in 1965 and Tucker said the feeling was incredible.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling. It’s my first ever premiership and it’s the first ever for the Peel Thunder Football Club,” he said.
“It’s a really good moment for the club, for myself and for all the boys who have gone through a lot of hard work.
“It’s what we aim to do – win premierships – and it’s amazing.”
Tucker is eyeing a trip home to Victoria and a potential holiday to Bali before returning for his second pre-season at Fremantle, and said a good preparation will set him up for 2017.
“(I’ll) tick all the boxes, have a good preseason and you never know what happens,” he said.
“I’ll go into preseason and look to work hard.”
