In his 17th season with Fremantle, Matthew Pavlich has seen more of the club than most.

On Sunday, in his 350th AFL/VFL appearance, his team lost by 90 points to Sydney.

And while Pavlich was disappointed with his Freo’s performance, he was honoured by the support he received from the club’s fans.

Pav's special family moment

“I really appreciate everyone staying around,” he said.

“I think everyone was there at the end.

“That respect’s really nice.

“It was a really challenging day for us – we would’ve loved to have played a lot better.

The forward, who captained Fremantle in 189 games over nine seasons, noted the journey he had shared with the club’s supporters.

Talking points from Sydney loss

“We’ve grown up together,” he said.

“The fans are on the journey with us.

“They ride every bump – the rollercoaster that is AFL footy.

“We’ve had our tumultuous times.

“There’s been some up’s, there’s been some downs and I feel like (the fans) have been there every step of the way.”

Pavlich will retire at season’s end with six All-Australian jumpers, six Doig medals and six club goalkicking awards.
