A huge crowd greeted the players at Fremantle Oval this morning as the club stepped up preparations for Saturday night’s preliminary final at Patersons Stadium.

2013 All Australian defender Michael Johnson was on the track but didn’t join the main group.

He was put through a series of light exercises, along with Danyle Pearce.

Nick Suban, who was injured in the qualifying final win over Geelong, trained strongly.

Garrick Ibbotson did not make an appearance, although senior coach Ross Lyon had already ruled him out of the clash with Sydney.

The group was in good spirits, as were the hundreds of fans who cheered their heroes on.

Before the session began, Lyon said the team welcomed the big supporter presence.

“It's great, the members are the lifeline of the club,” he said.

“Clearly they're enthusiastic, it's a bit of history, first home preliminary and we're pretty keen to make it count.

“It highlights our fans’ passion and our members’ passion.

“We welcome it, we'll have a closed session later in the week so it's a good opportunity for the guys to get here and enjoy seeing our players train.”
