The Fremantle Football Club has confirmed a further three list updates following the 2024 season.
Tom Emmett has been advised that he will not be offered a contract by the Club for 2025, while Max Knobel will be delisted later this month with a commitment from the Club to be taken as a rookie selection in the Rookie Draft in November. In addition to these changes, Odin Jones has been offered a one-year contract extension on the rookie list.
Originally selected with pick No. 41 in the 2022 National Draft, Emmett played 15 games for Fremantle in two seasons, kicking 11 goals as a pressure forward.
The South Australian played his first AFL game against Port Adelaide in 2023, kicking two goals on debut in Round 23.
The 22-year-old was a member of Peel Thunder’s 2024 WAFL premiership side, playing 28 league games across 2023 and 2024.
“It is always a tough time of year confirming the final spots on our list and farewelling quality people like Tom. We thank Tom for his contribution on and off the field over the last two years and wish him all the very best,” Fremantle Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty said.
Knobel was selected by Fremantle with pick No. 42 in the 2022 National Draft.
The 20-year-old ruckman has featured for Peel Thunder’s league (seven games) and reserves (24 games) sides across the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
"Unfortunately for Max, we need to take three selections into the National Draft. So he will be delisted by the Club with a commitment to select him in the Rookie Draft,” said Brierty.
"Max is continuing to develop his ruck craft and he has taken steps forward this year in all aspects of his footy. We believe his football will only continue to improve in 2025.”
Jones’ one-year contract extension on the rookie list keeps him at the Club until the end of the 2025 season.
Jones was selected with pick No. 5 in the 2023 AFL Rookie Draft, with the 19-year-old playing 11 games for Peel Thunder’s league (six games) and reserves (five games) sides in 2024.
The versatile big man overcame an interrupted pre-season to feature for Peel’s senior side in the backend of season 2024.
"Odin arrived at the Club after only one year of colts footy and has continued to improve in a professional environment. We love his competitive nature and look forward to seeing what he can do with a full pre-season,” said Brierty.
The Telstra AFL Draft will be held on November 20 and 21. Fremantle currently holds draft picks 14, 30 and 67.
