After addressing media on Friday at Optus Stadium during his weekly media conference, talk turned to Ross Lyon’s costume for his slide at the Fight MND Big Freeze on Monday.

Lyon will join the remaining 17 AFL coaches and slide into a pool of ice water ahead of the Melbourne and Collingwood game at the MCG, with everyone also set to dress up in a bid to raise awareness and money for MND research.

While Lyon remained coy about his final costume, he gave out some potential hints and with $20,000 already donated for Lyon’s slide by the Melbourne City sales team of commercial property agency, CBRE, the Fremantle senior coach is taking his role on the day seriously.

“I have a costume but it’s under wraps,” Lyon said.

“I was thinking Grimace from McDonalds or Tinkie Winkie from the Tellie Tubbies.

“The purple one with the red handbag. I was thinking that.”

Earlier in the press conference, Lyon paid tribute to CBRE’s national director Mark Wizel for the support.

“He’s built some of his businesses and philosophy based on my coaching philosophies that he’s gleaned out of my time at St Kilda and Fremantle. It helps his leadership and it helps his processes and he seems to be going ok,” Lyon said.

“It was incredibly generous as he just matched his team’s contribution.

“More importantly, he saw Neale Daniher, he’s an inspiration.

“He’d like to support Fremantle and myself, importantly, be a force. It’s nice that someone sees you in that light I suppose.”
