Emerging Fremantle ruckman Sean Darcy says his injured knee held up well following a return to running at the club earlier in the week.
Darcy is on the comeback trail from sustaining a PCL injury to his left knee in round two playing for Peel against Swan Districts in the WAFL.
The 19-year-old could return to football by June, listed as four weeks away from a full recovery.
“It’s coming along quite nicely,” Darcy said.
“All the swelling’s gone down and I got back to running yesterday, which was nice.
“I’m not wearing my knee brace full time anymore, only when I’m exercising.”

After training on a reduced bodyweight treadmill, Darcy enjoyed the novelty of running outdoors.
“I was running on the Alter-G treadmill a few times before that now I’m heading outside which is good,” Darcy said.
“It was a bit weird not running for four weeks so my body pulled up a bit sore but my knee was fine and had no issues with it at all.”
Darcy is also working on his upper body strength as well as his legs to ensure he maintains his strength and fitness.
“There’s a fair bit of upper body work which is good,” Darcy said.
“I’m doing a fair bit of quad strengthening. There’s leg press and squatting. Things like that to strengthen my quad and my calves to stabilise my knee when I’m running.”
Darcy is teaming up with Hugh Dixon in recovery, with the up and coming forward also four weeks away from a return with a foot injury.
“Hugh’s tracking along quite nicely,” Darcy said.
“We’re doing a lot of similar things like boxing and running together, so our schedules have linked up well.”
Darcy is also continuing to work with lead Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands, who is shouldering the ruck load with Darcy on the sidelines.
“I sit down with Aaron and Simon Eastaugh every week and go over his footage,” Darcy said.
“He’s playing really well so I don’t think he needs me at the moment.
“I’ve just got to get back on the track and see how I go but Aaron’s hanging in there.”
