Fremantle’s skipper Nat Fyfe said that the clubs 10 new recruits are already starting to impress.
With the team returning from the break to a heavy training load Fyfe said the youngsters are showing impressive signs.
“We’re seeing some good signs, particularly out off our high draft picks in [Tom] North and [Adam] Cerra,” Fyfe said.
Fyfe also commended the first year players, including our first round pick in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft Andrew Brayshaw, and their eagerness to learn and develop.
“I think what’s stood out with Andy [Andrew Brayshaw], and with all our first years, is their willingness to learn,” Fyfe said.
“These guys all want to learn quickly and adapt to our culture and really bring a lot to Fremantle.”
Over the last two years Fremantle has added 22 new players, six via trades and another 16 via the drafts, three of which were top 10 picks.
The midfielder said despite elements of the unknown derived from a new young group the team has a good energy.
“We’ve got a new group with some new talent transfers,” Nat Fyfe said.
“There’s a little bit of an unknown in our group at the moment but the energy is good.”
Along with the new comers Fyfe said the last few weeks has been an opportunity for players to develop their leadership skills.
“The young leaders in the group in particular Connor Blakely, Brady Grey, Ed Langdon and Ethan Hughes, four guys that are really starting to blossom as young leaders,” Fyfe said.
“And were desperate to have the next tier come up.”
