Sam Switkowski faces a test to return to football and fellow small forward Hayden Ballantyne is expected to miss three to four weeks with a hamstring injury, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.
Weber said Ballantyne injured his hamstring in the fourth quarter of Fremantle’s clash against North Melbourne at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
“Late in the fourth quarter Hayden had that little right hamstring injury,” Weber said.
“It’s unfortunate for Hayden, he’s trained really well to this point and he put in magnificent effort in the game.
“It’s a low-level injury and it should only keep him out for a short period of time.”
Switkowski is listed as a test alongside defender Griffin Logue (hamstring).
“Sam’s been training really strongly over the weekend and we expect him to be a test,” Weber said.
“Equally, Griffin trained really well on the weekend so we’re looking forward to seeing him back into full training.”
Weber said both Connor Blakely and Brennan Cox were showing promising signs in their rehabilitation.
“Connor’s been pestering me non-stop. He’s doing a really good job, he’s hitting all his benchmarks and he’s starting to ramp up his training now,” Weber said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing him play in only a handful of weeks.
“Brennan is doing equally well and he’s producing the KPIs that we want him to hit.”
Young midfielder Luke Valente is listed as one week to return to football as he builds his fitness.
“He’s really getting back up to game speed now so we hope to see him in the very near future,” Weber said.
