Hugh Dixon will make his debut for Fremantle after being named as one of four inclusions for Sunday’s Round 23 clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
The 20-year-old is joined by Scott Jones, Bailey Banfield and Ryan Nyhuis as Freo’s inclusions for the clash.
Jones returns to the Freo line-up for the first time in 2019, while Banfield will play his seventh game for Freo this year after a strong display for Peel last weekend.
They replace veteran pair Aaron Sandilands and Hayden Ballantyne after their farewell games for Fremantle last weekend against Essendon.
Lachie Schultz has also been omitted, while Sean Darcy comes out of the side after sustaining a concussion late in the Bombers game.
Darcy passed a concussion test earlier in the week but failed a subsequent test prior to the final training session on Friday.
Dixon has averaged 10.9 disposals, 3.3 marks and 0.5 goals from 13 games this season.
In his most recent WAFL appearance, Dixon played as backup ruckman to Jones, with 10 hit-outs, seven tackles and a goal.
The emerging key forward earned a contract extension in August of last year, that will see him stay with Freo until at least the end of the 2020 season.
Jones played five games for Freo in his debut season last year, often working as a back-up ruckman while providing a tall marking option up front.
Banfield is coming off one of the best individual performances in the WAFL this season.
The midfielder amassed 38 disposals, 13 tackles, 10 clearances and a goal in Peel’s close loss to Swan Districts last Saturday.
Nyhuis competed well in his one-on-ones against Swan Districts over the weekend taking eight marks and comes into the side for his fourth game for Freo in 2019.
Lachie Schultz, Travis Colyer, Brett Bewley and Ryan Nyhuis have been named as Fremantle’s emergencies.
Bouncedown for the clash is at 4.10pm ACST (2.40pm AWST) and will be broadcast live into Perth on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.
