The 2019 Doig Medal Presentation Dinner will be held on Saturday 5 October at the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth.

This week, fremantlefc.com.au will be running through the players in contention to take out the club’s most prestigious award.

Season summary

David Mundy was always reliable in 2019 and he continued to step up and play his best football when the team needed him most.

In his 300th game, Mundy gave Fremantle the lift they needed with two clutch second half goals to guide his team to victory against the Western Bulldogs in round six.

In 2019, Mundy ranked second at Fremantle for contested possessions and clearances, third for tackles and fourth for disposals and inside 50s.

Mundy won the Doig Medal in 2010 and has finished in the top-10 in all of the past 11 seasons.

He has finished runner-up three times in 2013, 2015 and 2018.

Best game: Round 4 v West Coast

If Fremantle had gotten over the line, Mundy would have surely added another Glendinning/Allan Medal to his collection.

With Nat Fyfe out due to injury, Mundy delivered 36 disposals from 23 contested possessions, 529 metres gained and 10 clearances as stand-in captain.

Mundy set a WA-based AFL record in the clash, taking his career disposal total to 6301 disposals to pass Matt Priddis’ career total.
