Fremantle have agreed to terms with Tobe Watson and Dillon O’Reilly to remain on the rookie list for the 2020 season.
A 190cm defender, Watson was drafted by Fremantle at pick no.22 in the 2018 rookie draft from Swan Districts.
The 21-year-old played 16 games for Peel Thunder in the WAFL this season, averaging 17 disposals and 5.4 marks per game.
O’Reilly joined Fremantle in the 2019 mid season draft, taken at pick no.11.
The versatile 193cm forward/defender played seven league games and three reserves games for Peel and East Fremantle in the WAFL this season.
The 19-year-old was given a six-month rookie contract when he was drafted in May, and will take part in his first AFL pre-season training this summer.
Fremantle list update: 2 September
Fremantle list manager Mark Micallef said that the club had high hopes for the rookie duo.
“Tobe has displayed strong attributes at Peel Thunder this year,” Micallef said.
“We think he’s developing really nicely and we see a future for Tobe as an intercepting roll off defender.
“We took Dillon in the mid-season draft. We’ve very happy with his progress to date and we thought a one-year contract was appropriate.
“Dillon will get his first AFL pre-season under his belt over the summer, which we hope will hold him in good stead going forward.”
