- Mundy in Team of the Week
- Defender taking 'plenty of positives' out of RAC Derby
- Freo pair poll in coaches' votes
David Mundy has set a WA-based AFL record following his outstanding 36-disposal performance in the RAC Derby on Saturday night.
As reported in The West Australian, Mundy brought his career disposal total to 6301 disposals, passing West Coast’s Matt Priddis (6279) to take top spot with the most career disposals by a WA-based player.
Mundy could set another milestone in just two weeks - with 298 career games to his name, he is set to play his 300th in round six against the Western Bulldogs.
He will join Matthew Pavlich as the only WA-based players to reach the 300-game mark.
Senior coach Ross Lyon praised Mundy following the derby, saying he wasn’t surprised to see the 33-year-old continuing to deliver elite performances.
“I don’t think age comes into it, once you’re in you’re in, you commit,” Lyon said.
“I think too much is made of age… everyone used to write people off once you turned the other side of 30 but, 33, they seem to get it done.”
