The livewire forward sat out the final minutes of the game against the Eagles after copping a knock to the face that required stitches, but that wasn’t the reason Ballantyne didn’t return to the field.
"He did (his hamstring) late in the fourth quarter, about the same time he got the elbow to the face that had to be stitched," Weber said.
In other injury news, first-year player Tanner Smith will miss the rest of the season after having surgery on his shoulder, which he injured playing for Peel Thunder in the WAFL.
"The decision was taken to go to surgery, get it right, and then prepare him for pre-season," Weber said.
Clancee Pearce (concussion), Paul Duffield (calf) and Nick Suban (calf) were all listed as tests.
Weber said Pearce had taken a significant hit in the Carlton Mid Derby which forced him to be subbed off.
"He was pulled out of the game with concussion, so it will be a matter for the doctors to assess throughout the week," he said.
Weber said Luke McPharlin, who was listed as four weeks out with a calf injury, was working hard to get himself right.
“Luke’s got an absolutely fantastic attitude and he carries the burden of rehab really well,” he said.
“He’s leading the way down in the gym at the moment.”
After being subbed out of his return match two weeks ago, Aaron Sandilands played his first full game of the year against the Eagles on Sunday, and Weber said the champion ruckman pulled upwell.
“It was a very highly contested game, so he certainly felt it and was quite sore, but he’s pulled up absolutely fine and he’s looking forward to the next hit out and a bit more work,” Weber said.
