Who were the Freo Dockers that were unlucky not to make Mick Malthouse's top five? Follow the link for more.
1. Matthew Pavlich
2. Aaron Sandilands
3. Peter Bell
4. Dale Kickett
5. Ben Allan
Here’s some Freo Dockers who could be considered unlucky not to have made Mick’s top five.
Shane Parker - 238 games
Parker was the games record holder at Fremantle with 238 until Matthew Pavlich broke it in 2011. He was one of the most reliable defenders in the competition, as well as one of the most versatile. Parker could man up to Barry Hall or Stephen Milne on any given day and he was rarely beaten, even during periods when Freo wasn’t going so well.
Paul Hasleby - 208 games
Hasleby burst onto the scene in 2000, winning the rising star award with a brilliant debut season. He went on to become an integral member of the midfield for the next decade before retiring in 2010. During his career, Haselby won a still-record four Ross Glendinning Medals as the best player on the ground in the Derby.
Shaun McManus - 228 games
He was never the fastest or most skilful player going around, but no one could compare to the courage and determination McManus displayed throughout his footy career. Known as the “heart and soul” of the Fremantle Dockers, McManus overcame two knee reconstructions to become one of the most respected figures this club will ever see pass through its doors.
Luke McPharlin - 199 games
McPharlin has become one of the best key defenders in the game. Athletically gifted, his 2011 season and 2012 so far have been sublime. He stands the best forward the opponent has to offer on a weekly basis, and more often than not, comes out on top. He’s also taken a number of great marks over the years, thanks to his impressive leap.
