Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick has acknowledged the legacy of Club legend Peter Bell as he steps away from his role as the Club’s Executive General Manager of Football Talent, Strategy and Special Projects.

Speaking on SEN WA’s The Run Home on Friday, Garlick told hosts Paul Hasleby and Peter Vlahos that the Club was grateful for Bell’s incredible service over his tenure.

“He’s been here six years now and has done a phenomenal job on a number of fronts,” Garlick said.

“(Bell) came in at a time when there was quite a bit of instability, especially with the CEO and coach being let go on the same day.

“Belly was General Manager of Football at that time, and he, along with a host of others, really helped provide stability during that period and started to rebuild the organisation on solid foundations.

“I think this was just the right time for Belly. It allows him to step away from the cut and thrust of what is a very cutthroat and high-profile industry and make some decisions about his next move.

“Given who he is and what he’s done for our Club, we’re incredibly supportive of him taking this time to decide on his future.”

Bell served as the Club’s General Manager of Football from 2018 to 2023 before transitioning to the role of Executive General Manager of Football Talent, Strategy and Special Projects ahead of the 2024 AFL season.
