Pat Voss and Ollie Murphy have signed contract extensions to remain at Fremantle until at least the end of season 2026, while ruckman Liam Reidy has extended until at least the end of 2025.

Voss and Reidy both made their AFL debuts in 2024, while draftee Murphy featured for Peel Thunder in the WAFL as he continued to develop his backline craft.

A two-year extension is another step in 21-year-old Voss’ remarkable story after arriving at Fremantle to train for a SSP spot during pre-season.

“Coming over to WA to begin with, I didn’t know where it was going to end. It could have ended in February,” said the key forward.

“I’ve absolutely loved my time over here. I feel like I’m developing really well and some of the outcomes I’ve been able to get this year has been amazing so yeah, I’ve loved my year.

“(Making my AFL debut) was definitely the best moment of my footy career - and probably my life - with the joy it brings to everyone around you.

“My aerial craft, I’ve developed a lot this year working with JG (forwards coach Jaymie Graham).

“I’ve still got a lot of work to go on it - and my fitness - which is key over this off-season break going forward.”

Walls says Voss will continue to improve as a power forward.

“He came over as an SSP with no guarantees of getting a spot and has worked super hard,” said Walls.

“He stepped up to play seven AFL games and kicked seven goals so has shown he can play a role when he’s called on.

“Vossy can hit the scoreboard and is only going to keep improving.”

Liam Reidy’s one year extension makes it three years on the rookie list after being recruited from VFL club Frankston in November 2022.

“I’m excited to get into it, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind (couple months) to be honest,” said the 24-year-old ruckman.

“Working my butt off in pre-season and then playing through the season, signing another contract and obviously making my AFL debut was special.

“Playing the last couple of games of the AFL season was really good. I learned plenty and I’m eager to get stuck into next year and see what’s ahead.”

Walls says Reidy is being rewarded for his hard work.

“He’s improved out of sight and worked his backside off to get an opportunity,” said Walls.

“He came in for a couple of AFL games late in the season and showed he can compete at that level. He’s only 24 years of age and is only going to get better.”

Drafted from the Sandringham Dragons with pick 41 in the 2023 AFL Draft, Ollie Murphy says he’s excited to add another year to his current contract after adjusting to his new life in the West.

“I’m super stoked. It’s been a good first year and the transition has been smooth since coming over from Melbourne,” said the 19-year-old.

“Being able to learn off the defenders, being able to develop my craft at Peel and play some good footy there - I’m just trying to get better every day.”

Walls says Murphy is developing well after his first season at the Club.

“Ollie’s settled into life as a professional footballer, living away from home and is loving WA,” said Walls.

“He had a bit of a frustrating season with surgery midway through the season, but he’s shown plenty on the track and in the games he’s played with Peel.

“He’s a 200cm key defender who’s going to continue to add to his size and skill and there’s none better to learn his craft from than our key defenders, in particular captain Alex Pearce.”
