Gabby O’Sullivan’s one-match suspension has been upheld by the AFL Tribunal in a hearing on Tuesday evening.
The Fremantle veteran will miss the Club’s week 5 fixture against St Kilda at RSEA Park in Melbourne on Friday afternoon.
The utility was charged for striking Melbourne’s Sinead Goldrick during the first quarter of Saturday’s week 4 clash with the Demons.
The MRO had initially graded the incident as intentional conduct, low impact, and high contact, with a penalty of a one-match suspension.
Fremantle’s basis for their challenge primarily focussed on arguing that O’Sullivan’s actions should be considered careless, but not intentional, resulting in the downgrading of the charge to a fine.
The MRO argued for the grade to remain as intentional conduct, due to O'Sullivan's raised arm and elbow being consistent with the act of an intentional strike.
O'Sullivan will be available for selection in Fremantle's week 6 match against Geelong on Tuesday 1 October.
Gabby O'Sullivan has been offered a one-match suspension for this incident involving Sinead Goldrick.
