Melbourne has added six players to its squad for Sunday’s clash against Fremantle at Domain Stadium, including defender Oscar McDonald for his first AFL match.
The Demons have also included big man Jake Spencer, defender Neville Jetta and midfielder Matt Jones into the starting 18.
Utility Rohan Bail and tough-nut Aidan Riley have also been added to the squad, having been named on the extended interchange.
Forward Jack Watts, first-year Demon Billy Stretch, ex-Power player Ben Newton, former co-captain Jack Grimes and rookie James Harmes – who all played last round – have also been named on the bench.
The final 22 will be confirmed on Friday night.
The Demons have lost 2010 Collingwood premiership players Heritier Lumumba and Chris Dawes, both with ankle injuries.
Youngster Angus Brayshaw, who has had a fine debut year, will miss his first match of the season, after being rested.
For McDonald, his start at Melbourne has had some similarities to his older brother Tom.
Oscar was drafted at No.53 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft – the same number as Tom back in 2010.

Melbourne is also looking to end a 15-game losing streak at Domain Stadium – and win its first match at the venue since round 11, 2004, when the Demons defeated the Dockers.
