Fremantle’s first team for 2024 has been selected, headlined by an AFLW debutant in Tunisha Kikoak and three Club debutants in Gabby Newton, Ash Brazill and Aish McCarthy.
19-year-old Kikoak has been named on the interchange bench after impressive stints in the backline during the recent practice matches against the Eagles and Collingwood.
The 180cm tall was signed as a replacement player for Kiara Bowers just under four months ago and has quickly impressed with her strong aerial ability and dominance on-field to earn her AFLW debut in a short space of time.
Adding experience to the side, Newton, McCarthy and Brazill were all secured during the AFLW Trade Period held in December last year.
A known utility, Newton has been named as a half forward with McCarthy in the midfield and Brazill named at half back.
Named in the ruck for the first match of 2024, Mim Strom will celebrate a massive milestone as she notches her 50th AFLW game, entering her sixth season for Fremantle.
Strom has over 800 hitouts to her name over her career to date, since making her debut in round 1 of the 2020 season.
Inaugural Freo Docker Ebony Antonio has been named on the wing and will make her first official appearance since round 7 of the 2023 season, after undergoing a PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction late last year.
A very special Freo person kicks off the season with a bang this weekend 💜

Former defenders Phil Seth and Laura Pugh will shape up as part of a ‘new look’ forward line, with the pair getting a feel for their new positions during the pre-season hit-outs.
Pugh will captain the side, in the absence of Ange Stannett who will have a coaching role on the bench.
Following a successful reign during pre-season, Áine Tighe has been named at full forward while Airlie Runnalls rounds out the five starting forwards.
Bouncedown for Saturday’s clash is 1.05pm WST with the game to be broadcast live on 7Mate and Fox Footy, as well as streamed live on Kayo Sports.
