Fremantle High-Performance Manager Phil Merriman has declared that key forward Josh Treacy will be a test to play in the Club’s crucial clash with GWS on Saturday.

Treacy, who missed the weekend’s loss to Geelong with a knee injury, has made solid progress in his recovery.

However, Merriman confirmed that the star forward's availability would be determined later in the week.

“He’s going well. We are going to see how his knee tracks throughout the week and make a call on his availability later on,” Merriman said.

In a similar vein, Merriman confirmed that ruckman Sean Darcy would also be a test to play against GWS following the 203cm big man’s late withdrawal at the weekend after not making it through his final fitness test.

“Sean had a little bit of knee soreness after the Essendon game,” Merriman said.

“He carried through the week quite well, but unfortunately, he just couldn’t get going (on gameday).

“He will be a test to play this week, but again, we will see how he tracks during the week.”

In positive news for the Club, veteran forward Michael Walters (hamstring) and recruits Oscar McDonald (knee) and Ollie Murphy (abdomen) have overcome their injuries.

“Sonny (Walters) is going really well,” Merriman said.

“As I’ve been saying, he’s going to be fit when he comes back, and he will be available this week.

“The two key backs (McDonald and Murphy) are ready to go and will be available this week on managed minutes.

“It will be great to see them back out there.”

Meanwhile, developing ruck Max Knobel will also be a test to play following the heavy collision he sustained during Peel Thunder’s Reserves loss to South Fremantle.

“Max copped a pretty nasty knee to his ribs,” Merriman said.

“He’s pretty sore today, but we will see how he’s tracking later in the week to determine his availability."
