Fremantle Captain Alex Pearce wants the group to get back to playing “our brand” of football.
Cross-town rivals West Coast got the better of the Club in RAC Derby 58, prevailing 37-point winners in a dominant display.
“It’s a very disappointing one, they are always big games RAC Derbies and we really wanted to put in a strong performance. It’s disappointing to lose and in that fashion as well,” Pearce said.
“It’s disappointing because we knew that’s how they wanted to play. They have a lot of strong bodies around the contest that win a lot of contested ball.
“We’ll make sure this next week at training we are confident and next week against the Bulldogs we are playing our brand again.”
West Coast won the contested ball 128 – 102, making it just the second time this year the Club has lost the contested possession number.
“It’s something we have done well for the start of the season - our contest has been pretty strong - so it’s something we need to work on,” Pearce said.
“We’ll review it individually and as a group and take some lessons.
“Our midfield has started the season well, and I know they’ll be disappointed just like the other lines today and we’re all looking to bounce back.”
Fremantle will now face the Western Bulldogs next Saturday at Optus Stadium in the Club’s first home game since round 3.
Both sides will come into the clash with a 3-3 record.
“It’s been a little bit since we have played in front of the home fans so we can’t wait to get out there,” Pearce said.
“We hope we have a really big support, a lot of people turn out and that we get back to playing our footy and getting back onto the winners list.”
