In a week that Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich’s six goals against Richmond have been celebrated, it’s time to look back at one of “Pav’s” other great goal kicking feats - round 12, 2008.
In front of the Subiaco Oval home crowd, the Freo skipper kicked eight goals in a best-on-ground effort against a hapless North Melbourne, which had made a Preliminary Final in 2007.
Fremantle won the game 18.12 (120) to 9.13 (67) in front of 34,105 fans.
Pavlich also had 17 disposals, eight marks and 123 Dream Team points in the romp.
The eight majors were the most he’s ever kicked in a home game since beginning in the AFL in 2000.
The only time in his career to date that Pavlich had bettered this goal tally was his nine-goal master-class in round 16, 2005 against Carlton at the MCG.
