Harley Bennell is maintaining a strong fitness base despite suffering a set back in his return from calf injury, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.
Scans have revealed that Bennell is at least another two months away from joining the Fremantle side.
“Harley’s had another incident with his left leg and unfortunately he’ll be eight to ten weeks,” Weber said.
“But he’s had a great base of training over the summer, so we’re anticipating some good things from him on his return.”
Weber said Hayden Ballantyne is continuing to show positive signs as he recovers from a hamstring injury sustained against Carlton in the JLT Community Series.
“Hayden’s travelling really well,” Weber said.
“He’s back on the field and running. He’s actually in boxing (training) this week, so he’s going well and he’s on target for his return.”
Weber said that Taylin Duman, Ryan Nyhuis and Brennan Cox are chances to return for Peel this week, with Duman and Nyhuis the most likely feature in the Good Friday clash with West Perth at Rushton Park.
“Both (Duman and Nyhuis) are tests for this week,” Weber said.
“They trained really strongly today so we anticipate them both being available for selection.
“Brennan Cox had an ankle injury but he’ll be up for a test this week for selection.
“He’ll be a challenge as Peel play on Friday night so we’ll see how he goes.”
