Saturday night’s clash against the Suns at Domain Stadium saw former Fremantle Dockers captain Matthew Pavlich and injured forward Michael Walters reunite for an interview at half time.
How is the knee and how long are you in that brace for?
The knee is coming along well, I was a bit frustrated at the time, but all in all I’ve sort of come to terms with it, so I’ve got the brace on for six weeks.
So you’re in some rehab at the moment but your plan is to be back for day one of pre-season?
I will definitely be back for day one of pre-season, they told me to stop playing footy because I might cause more damage to the posterior cruciate ligament, but all in all I’ve come to terms with it and I’m just happy to try help out the team where I could.
How do you go watching the game? No doubt it’s frustrating not being out there with the team, but have you enjoyed the sights so far?
I have, the ball movement has been better, at times from both sides its been a bit scrappy but all in all we’re moving the ball well, we’re handballing, we’re running and our forwards have been marking the ball, taking the game on, so it’s been good.
What about some of the younger players that have debuted this year, there’s been six (seven) in total for Fremantle. Who’s impressed you not only tonight but across this season?
I’ve played with Brennan Cox and also Luke Ryan as well at stages and throughout training and also through the pre-season they’ve done nothing but improve. Also as soon as they started playing in the senior side, no doubt their improvement is just to keep growing and that’s all we really want from all of our players, so it has been really good.
You have moved into the midfield. That must’ve been a nice release?
Definitely, you know what its like playing forward, you get the small defender playing on you, but it has been refreshing moving in the midfield as you said and I love getting a kick as well, so it’s always good.
