Fyfe’s report
It has already dominated AFL talkback shows and social media chatter around the country. Nat Fyfe was reported by the on-field umpire for tripping Bulldog Koby Stevens during the third quarter. It comes after Fyfe was suspended last year, throwing Brownlow Medal betting into chaos.
Ruck dominance
Fremantle absolutely dominated hit-outs 69 to 13. Aaron Sandilands had 50 hit-outs on his own while Zac Clarke chipped in with 14. David Mundy had three hit-outs, equalling the Bulldogs designated ruckman Ayce Cordy.
MATCH REPORT: Freo defeat gutsy Dogs by 13-points.
Pavlich in his prime
At 33, the Freo captain is showing no signs of ageing and is in fantastic form. He booted five goals, including the sealer, against the Dogs. Pavlich was a strong target up forward with 17 disposals and nine marks.
Etihad Stadium surface
No stadium has probably had as much debate about its surface as Etihad Stadium. Following the game, senior coach Ross Lyon said one half of the ground was greasy while the other side was “as dry as a chip”. A number of players did slip over during the game but Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge had no issue with the surface.
