Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon says he loves coaching defender Michael Johnson, who is in line to play his 200th game on Friday against Richmond.
Lyon said the 2013 All Australian was an exceptional player.
The 196cm defender and is known for his clean ball use, a rare commodity for a player so tall.
“He’s a unique player,” Lyon told 6PR on Monday.
“Since I walked through the door all he has done is train hard and play to an incredibly high level.”
Lyon said he rarely spoke to Johnson because he consistently performed.
“I hardly speak to him…I just let him go,” he said.

“I knew he was very talented when I came to the club.”
Lyon said Johnson’s record in big games was impressive.
“He plays well in big games, he plays well every week, but in finals footy he stands up and doesn’t regress,” he said.
“He’s been significant in my tenure at Fremantle.
“I love coaching him.”
Johnson is in line to play his 200th game against Richmond at Domain Stadium Friday 5 June. Bounce down is at 6.10pm.
