Off the field, Jordan Clark remains great friends with his former teammates.

But following Walyalup’s 29-point win against Geelong on Saturday at Optus Stadium, Clark said there was no-one he wanted to beat more than his former side.

The Cats forward line boasts the AFL’s most dangerous one-two punch in Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins, and it took a herculean effort from the defenders to restrict Geelong to 11 goals.

Captain Alex Pearce led the way with six intercept marks from his eight marks in total, while Brennan Cox (eight intercepts) and Clark (seven) were also instrumental.

In total, Clark had 17 disposals, seven marks, three tackles and 304 metres gained in determined performance.

“In all honesty, I was focused on beating the old side,” Clark said.

“I had it instilled in my mind that I hate losing, and even losing to your old team sucks.

“I was just trying my best to see how it went. That’s all I could do today.”

Clark praised young teammate Brandon Walker who continues to show promise, as well as Hayden Young who was again impressive.

“Brandon Walker was really good, he gets the smallest most dangerous forward every week and he’s doing a really good job,” Clark said.

“(Young) seems to be going from strength to strength and that’s a credit to him, he’s a really good player and I look forward to what he can do in the future.”

Walyalup wore a jumper designed by Carly Grey in collaboration with Alex Pearce, and Clark said it was an honour to run out with their captain today in Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

“It’s a really special jumper, obviously with our indigenous culture, the history of this Club and the records we hold,” Clark said.

“It was a really special moment as well to have the Club captain design the jumper and for us boys to honour it tonight. It’s a really special thing and a big privilege to wear it.”
