Fremantle have the makings of a forward line that can be competitive for years to come, according to livewire forward Lachie Schultz.
Nat Fyfe trained with the forwards group on Thursday and Schultz expects the two-time Brownlow Medallist to have a big impact on the scoreboard after an injury interrupted 2022.
Fyfe adds his talent and experience to a group that is expected to see more time from developing tall forwards Jye Amiss and Josh Treacy, with support from incoming ruck/forward Luke Jackson.
Michael Frederick also showed he means business in 2023 by winning one of the two time trials that morning.
Fremantle have also added Josh Corbett in the off-season from the Gold Coast after an impressive season in the VFL.
“In the past we probably had a problem with depth and being able to get continuity out of our forward line, now I feel we’ve built a really good base,” Schultz said.
“It’s a forwardline for the long term, not the short term, and we feel like we’ve got a group that can take this club forward and I think we’ll see that pretty early.”

Schultz says Fyfe is already setting the example in the group, with Fyfe showing a glimpse of his forward talent in 2022 with three goals against St Kilda.
“I love having Nat (with the forwards), he’s obviously an integral part of our team and to have him in the forward line adds another strength to our bow,” Schultz said.
“He’s a phenomenal player for the club and it makes the forward’s lives a lot easier.
“It gives opportunity to the younger boys in the midfield as well, so it works well in all capacities and we’re excited to see what he can achieve.
“He’s got that natural craft, he knows what he’s doing. I’m still asking him for pointers about how I can get better.
“He’s a professional in whatever he does and I saw little snippets today but I think what he’s got in store is going to be even better, so that’s exciting.”
