Inspirational Fremantle captain Hayley Miller is being eased back into action ahead of Saturday’s clash with Hawthorn at Fremantle Oval.

Miller was helped from the field in obvious pain late in the final term of her side’s round nine 14-point win over Sydney.

Senior Physio Gabby Charlton explaining the toll of a brutal hip to hip collision in the Perth Radiological Clinic Injury Update.

“Hayley obviously walked away quite sore from that collision, but has subsequently been cleared of any sinister injury,” Charlton said.

“We’re planning for Hayley to have a light start to the week and we’ll test her football capacity in the back end of the week.”

Charlton has also confirmed Ebony Antonio and Makaela Tuhakaraina pulled up well from their first games of Season 7 following long lay-offs due to injury and illness.

Fremantle hope to have one final fairytale comeback of 2022 with inaugural skipper Kara Antonio setting her sights on one last game in purple after announcing her retirement to teammates on Monday.

30-year-old Antonio has worked tirelessly to return from hamstring surgery late in July.

“Kara being the true professional that she is put her head down and bum up and got stuck into her rehab,” Charlton said.

“There was a large amount of uncertainty if we would even be able to get to this point.

“It’s a real testament to Kara's character and all the work behind the scenes of being our forward line coach and a player going through rehab.

“The high performance team and Kara have been quite excited for a couple of weeks that she may well just tick off all her KPIs to get back to play one last game.

“She’s been looking really good on the track – she’s a test for this week and I expect Saturday to be a very special day.”
