What most impressed you about that tonight?
I think it was another even contribution. We built, because our first half wasn’t great, and they definitely had the better of the first half, but I still think it was a pretty even contribution and that’s been the trademark of our performances this year.
How much of a focus at half time was on centre bounce and putting Nat Fyfe in there?
It was the big difference in the game. They out-hunted us in there, we had been down that much at centre bounce that you’re starting your ball movement from the back half and our ball movement from our D-50 wasn’t very good. So I don’t think we smashed them at centre bounce in the second half but we were able to break even which was probably all we needed.

How pleasing is it to be able to, on the road, turn the momentum of a game and get the win?
It’s great. I think this year, when we stick to our way, we’ve been able to find moments in games where we get momentum and get control of the game and the big difference this year from the last couple of years is we’re able to cash in when that happens and we’re able to score. I thought all facets of our game in that third quarter were on and we were really well connected as a group and we were able to cash in on that, so it’s real pleasing.
How important was it winning at Marvel Stadium considering you’ve got two more games here in the next month?
We’ve spoken about it, we get some good continuity with where we play for the next right or nine week period. We feel like we play pretty well here, I think we had a good win against Collingwood last year and we played some pretty decent footy against Essendon last year, and beat Essendon here earlier in the year. I said that before the Carlton game and didn’t really live up to that but we feel like we play well here. It’s a good deck for us and it’s good to get that continuity.
What’s the latest with Alex Pearce?
It came out of nowhere a little bit, he just had a tight calf. He felt it in the early warm up and tried a few things to get it going and he just wasn’t right so we made that call. He would have played but we made that call to take him out, put Griffin Logue back and we got through.
When did Brennan Cox find out he was going to be playing on Max King? He did a pretty good job in the end.
He found out 15 minutes before bouncedown. Griff found out 15 minutes before bouncedown that he was going to play back. So I thought they both held up their end of the bargain.
It sounds like Pearce will be right for next week?
Yes we hope so, it’s pretty minor, but we just don’t want to take any risk of doing something serious.
Nat Fyfe’s game as a whole, he seems to keep building confidence and progressing nicely.
Yes, it was always going to be the case. He was always going to take a little bit of time, we were always open for week-on-week he would build his game and add layers to his game and I thought he made the most of his opportunities in front of goal and had an impact at centre bounce in the second half, and played his role really well.
Was it nice to see him in the midfield?
Yes. We think he can have a an impact in both parts of the ground and I’ve always said that where we feel he’s best needed, he will serve the team and we needed him at half time and the other mids lifted as well and got some of the stuff they were getting wrong in that first half back on track, and he contributed well through the middle of the ground.
Heath Chapman, when are we likely to see him return?
We will wait and see. I’ll talk about selection during the week. We just had a really good win and everyone in the team deserves to enjoy that. I think we had 13 players playing in the league at Peel today and the health of our squad is in good order so it’s a good problem to have.
There were some comments made by Chris Grant on Rory Lobb in the media, do you know much about that?
I don’t know anything about it. All I know is that Lobby is a contracted player. That’s all I know and. That’s where I will leave it.
How do you think the season is placed, you could be in a four-way tie for top spot by the end of the round?
It is what it is. It’s a reflection of the footy we’re playing. We don’t sit there looking at ladders or live ladders. We just make sure we put all our efforts in to the process and the ladder looks after itself. And it is looking after itself. The games don’t get any easier, they’re all tough. You need to make sure you put all your effort into the preparation for each week and the wins and losses will take care of themselves at the end of the year.
Do you envisage Fyfe playing more midfield time as he gets match fitness?
As I said, we’ll just keep adding layers to his game. We give him a fair bit of responsibility with where he spends his time as well. He’s an experienced player and he’s a leader of our club and it’s on him sometimes to identify where he can have the most impact and in the second half that was in the midfield a little bit more and we will just keep playing around with it.
Did he make the call to throw himself in there?
No he didn’t actually. I wanted him in there at half time but he’s got that license and he probably could have used that license in the second quarter, but he’s finding his feet and we’ll just keep giving him options and a bit of flexibility with it.
How tempted were you to put him in there in that second quarter?
Really tempted. We should have gone to it a little bit earlier but sometimes you just want to back the guys in, so we just need to find that balance.
Just on Lobb, how impressed are you with the way he is playing?
Really impressed. I’ve been really impressed with his efforts all year and not just the footy season, but the moment he walked back into the Club last year, he committed to his work, he committed over the pre-season to be really competitive and connected to his teammates and it’s showing in his footy. You hear some of the outside stuff, but from what I’ve seen of Rory he’s connected to his teammates, he seems to be enjoying his footy and he seems to be really committed.
