Even after a career-best game in Fremantle’s win against Geelong on Saturday, new Fremantle recruit Jordan Clark feels he has much more to offer in the purple.
Clark had career-highs in disposals (24) and clearances (five) as he helped give Freo bounce off half back in the absence of fellow young defenders Hayden Young and Heath Chapman.
He feels he will improve with time as he settles into a new Club and new system, after joining Fremantle from Geelong in the 2021 AFL Trade Period.
“I'm feeling really good. The boys have been awesome for me, and for Will Brodie as well,” Clark said.
“They've been able to help us fit in and I still feel like I've got a lot more to give, I'm finding my feet still and just building confidence each week as are the group.
“We're really working hard and I'm continuing to work hard as well.”
The game was Clark’s ninth win in 11 games at GMHBA Stadium making the 21-year-old fully aware of how hard it is for visiting teams.
“It was obviously a great win. I personally know how hard it is to knock the Cats off at their home ground,” Clark said.
“It's their empire here and it's very hard for away teams to come and take the four points. Although it wasn't perfect, we're pretty happy with that win. We've got a lot to learn out of that game and a lot to take in and there's plenty of improvement left in us.”
Clark had particular praise for tall defender Griffin Logue, who kept Jeremy Cameron scoreless for the first time in Cats colours.
“Griffin has been in and out of the side and to come in and play on arguably one of the best forwards in the game and keep him goalless tonight was a huge effort,” Clark said.
“I think that's goes to show that whenever the boys are coming in, we're all ready to go and ready to fire.”
Fremantle now turn their attention to North Melbourne for their first Friday night game since 2015.
The Kangaroos have one win from their six game and Clark says Fremantle will remain wary of what the Kangaroos can bring.
“In the past we've struggled with losses coming off good wins, it's going to be a good test for us,” Clark said.
“We know North Melbourne probably haven't had the season they'd like so far. Friday is going to be a good test for us and we have to show our maturity and try and get the job done.
“We'd love to see your support down there.”
