Greater Western Sydney midfielder Callan Ward says the Giants are looking forward to making the trip West this week to take on Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Sunday.

The co-captain said the young squad would benefit from travelling to the other side of the country to play.

“I don’t think that the 18-year-olds will have travelled to Perth too much, so that will be a good experience for them and I think that everyone will be pretty excited,” Ward said.

“I don’t mind going to Perth, I think it’s a beautiful place and I’ll be looking forward to it.”

Ward said the club continued to focus on the positives despite some one-sided results against them this season.

One of those was the performance of impressive young gun Toby Greene, who had 30 disposals in Sunday’s 119-point loss to Adelaide.

“Toby Greene has been awesome all year,” Ward said.

“He’s been averaging around 26 possessions a game, so he’s been great for us.

“It’s performances like that that really show us how much we have to look forward to as a club.”

Ward said the Giants aim this season has been to continue learning and developing as a group.

“Hopefully we can go back and take some things out of that game that we didn’t do that well, work on them at training on Wednesday and take that to Perth this week,” he said.
