Fremantle midfielder Adam Cerra believes Fremantle have turned a corner in how they perform interstate, praising the whole team for their 12-point win against Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.
Freo took down a Magpies outfit that had won two in a row, including upsetting ladder-leaders Melbourne before the bye.
After notching up their second away win this season, Cerra is hopeful the win means Freo can challenge in any game, both home and away.
“On the road, games aren’t easy, especially these days,” Cerra said.
“They should almost be worth eight points to be honest. The way that we’ve adapted and trained for away games this season, I think compared to our past, we’ve really improved.
“It was a huge win, especially against a side like Collingwood. They’ve been in good form the past couple of weeks.
“They posed a threat late and our ability to stay composed and stay calm, finish out the game and get the win, it’s a huge win for us and it sets us up well for the second half of the year.”
Cerra was thrilled to see the likes of Brett Bewley, Liam Henry and Josh Treacy impact the game.
Bewley, who was a late in for Nat Fyfe, kicked two crucial final term goals after Collingwood kicked three in three minutes to start the term.
“Bewley is one of the hardest workers out there and it’s great to see those hard workers get a lick of the ice-cream at the end of it, it was great,” Cerra said.
“Those roles up forward, you don’t get many looks at it but when you do, you can define the game by it. (Henry and Treacy) really stepped up when the opportunities came and they looked really damaging and threatening for us.”
Freo’s next game is against Carlton on Saturday night and Cerra said the team couldn’t wait to get back in front of the Purple Army.
“We’re back at home, back in front of our fans,” Cerra said.
“Hopefully, it’s another really strong game for us and we can get some momentum and finish off the year really well.”
