Fremantle are delighted to announce international superstar Kevin Parker of Tame Impala as the club’s newest no.1 ticket holder.
Parker takes the reins from Dr Richard Walley, who after five years as no.1 ticket holder has become the official Patron of the club.
The big announcement was made at half time of Fremantle’s clash with Sydney at Optus Stadium.
Parker said he always had a close affinity with both Fremantle and the Fremantle Dockers after establishing himself in Fremantle around the time Tame Impala emerged on the local scene.

“I’ve been a big Freo fan for a long time, we all have. I just felt more of a bond with Fremantle and the Fremantle club,” Parker said
“I moved to Freo about 10 years ago and I just started coming here and never left, basically.
“I think most of my favourite gigs have been in Fremantle and the first Tame Impala show was in Fremantle.
“I love going to the beach in Freo, South Beach is my go-to. It’s where I write a lot of lyrics.”
In a further surprise to Freo fans, Parker announced he had recorded an exclusive song for the club to play as a ‘pump up’ at games.
“One of the first things I was thinking about when the invitation for the no.1 ticket holder came was ‘how can I give back?’” Parker said.
“Music is something that I feel like I can offer. When the players are running out, that is one of the parts of the game where music plays a part.
“I wanted it to be something uplifting, energising and unique. Something that only the Dockers can use."
With Fremantle having a history of playing AC/DC at home games, Parker said the fellow Aussie rockers were an obvious inspiration for the track.
“It’s difficult not to be influenced by AC/DC when you’re trying to make a big powerful stadium song! It’s the DNA of AC/DC, so I’d say definitely there’s an influence,” Parker said.
Parker was a special guest at Fremantle’s round four home game against Hawthorn and said it was a thrill to be in the rooms following the win.
“Being in the change rooms after the match was pretty incredible,” Parker said.
“It’s surreal because it’s something that I’ve only seen on TV. To be there in person was really special. It was such a powerful atmosphere and celebratory vibe and it was something I never thought I would get to see.”
As the front man of Tame Impala, Parker has achieved astounding levels of success. Their past two albums The Slow Rush and Currents reached no.1 on the Australian charts and were both awarded the Triple J Album of the Year.
In 2020, their hit song ‘The Less I Know The Better’ was named no.1 in Triple J’s Hottest 100 of the Decade.
In 2016, they were named Best International Group at the Brit Awards, they have won 13 ARIAS and been nominated for four Grammy Awards.
As a touring act, they have headlined Glastonbury and Coachella, playing in front of more than 100,000 people and have also appeared numerous times in prime-time shows in the US including Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
