After two weeks on the road, young midfielder Adam Cerra said he couldn’t wait to get back to WA and playing in front of the Purple Army.

Freo are set to play their first game with a home crowd since round four against Hawthorn when they take on Sydney at Optus Stadium on Saturday night.

Since defeating the Hawks, they’ve had their round six home game against North Melbourne locked out to fans while playing away to Adelaide, West Coast, Brisbane and Essendon.

“It will be great to get back to Perth, back to our families and loved ones,” Cerra said.

“I can’t wait to play back in front of the Freo crowd and get them out of their seats.”

Sunday’s narrow loss against Essendon was an important one for Cerra, who had 28 disposals and a goal in his return from an ankle injury.

He was one of Freo’s best and said he just loved playing footy again.

“It was great. I had a lot of fun,” Cerra said.

“I hated watching on the sidelines but it was great to be out there and out with the boys and get through my first game back.

“I’ll look to build in the coming weeks.”
