Brennan Cox remains in doubt for Sunday’s RAC Derby despite senior coach Justin Longmuir giving a positive update on the key defender.
Cox was subbed off with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Fremantle’s 51-point win against North Melbourne at Optus Stadium on Saturday and replaced by medical sub Connor Blakely.
"He’s rolled his ankle, it doesn’t look too serious at this stage but we will have to get it scanned and see how he pulls up,” Longmuir said.
Longmuir said it was important for the players to deliver for the Club and its fans with the game shut played in an empty stadium due to the lockdown across the Perth and Peel regions.
The lockdown meant the annual Len Hall Tribute had to be cancelled for a second consecutive year.
“There were different circumstances for this game and obviously there were a lot of distractions coming into it, so getting the win is the best part of it,” Longmuir said.
“I feel really bad for people at the footy club to be honest, they have put a lot of work into this, and it is such a big day.
“It was meant to be the 25th Len Hall Game where we get to commemorate the Anzacs, and it was disappointing that there were no crowds here. My heart goes out to the Anzacs who were coming along tonight and everyone at the club who put so much time and effort into putting on such a great show.
“It was a bit of an eerie feeling to be honest, coming here today and throughout the game. I’m just glad we got the win, that is all we can take out of it.”
