Fremantle have built a list with the right mix of youth and experience, according to AFL legend Matthew Lloyd and afl.com.au reporter Damien Barrett.

Both were full of praise for Fremantle’s efforts on the road against Adelaide, earning a win to improve their season record to 3-2.

Barrett said Fremantle were finding success without being too reliant on their star players.

“They’ve put together a really solid second half of footy against a team that has been in form from the outset of this season beginning,” Barrett said on Access All Areas.

“It was a mix of the old with the new, the way they did it. There’s a lot to like about them (and) the methodical approach that Justin Longmuir is bringing to the team.

“David Mundy turns 36 in July. He is forevermore proof that teams should not throw out a player simply because of the birth certificate.”

Lloyd said Fremantle had improved markedly form their round three loss to Carlton.

“Full credit to them, they went away from home and when the game was on the line late, in hostile territory, they were too good,” Lloyd said.

“What like about them is they’ve got senior veterans who are flying like Mundy, (Michael) Walters and (Nat) Fyfe, and then you’ve got guys like (Andrew) Brayshaw in career-best form. Lachie Schultz has one of his best games I’ve seen. (Caleb) Serong is doing his thing. (Adam) Cerra was injured early and it didn’t matter.”
