Emerging Fremantle forward/midfielder Michael Frederick is focusing strongly on his shots on goal at training after letting some opportunities slip against Carlton in round three.
Frederick used his pace to create five scoring opportunities against the Blues but only converted one for a major, while also collecting 14 disposals and eight marks in the contest.
He said he would continue to work diligently on his set shot routine as well as practicing shots from general play.
“(There will be) a lot of practice throughout the week that will hopefully help (against Hawthorn),” Frederick told 6PR.
“I always stick to my (set shot) routine, I never go away from it even if I’ve missed a couple.
“(Against Carlton) I had a few different shots on goal, a couple set shots and a few on the run.
“There were times where maybe I could have just kept running more with the ball … I’m always practicing different types of shots during training as you never know what kinds of shots you’ll get on the weekend.”

Frederick hopes he can start making a scoreboard impact this week as Fremantle return to Optus Stadium to take on Hawthorn.
“Whenever I’m near the ball I can hear the crowd get louder and louder, it’s a great feeling playing in front of the Purple Army,” Frederick said.
“There’s no better feeling really, so hopefully that happens a little bit on the weekend.”
Freo could have a boost up front with Sam Sturt available for selection and captain Nat Fyfe a chance to play.
Rookie key forward Josh Treacy is also in the frame for a debut.
“Sturty had a great performance in the WAFL on Friday night kicking five. He’ll probably be in consideration for this week’s game,” Frederick said.
“Joshy Treacy travelled with us on the weekend as one of the extra emergencies and Fyfe has been tracking well.
“(Fyfe) trained with the WAFL boys on Monday morning and looks ready to go. I guess he just has to pass the concussion protocols and he should be right for this week.”
