Fremantle midfielder Kiara Bowers is free to play against North Melbourne on Saturday after her rough conduct (dangerous tackle) charge was overturned at Tuesday afternoon’s tribunal.
The incident occurred in the first quarter of Freo’s round eight clash with Melbourne at Fremantle Oval on Sunday and involved Melbourne midfielder Eden Zanker.
Bowers was still found guilty of rough conduct but the charge was downgraded to a $400 fine.
Fremantle QC Seamus Rafferty contested the medium grading of the impact, arguing the incident should be re-considered as low impact.
Bowers was initially charged by the AFL’s match review officer, with the incident classified as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
The tribunal re-graded the incident from medium impact to low.
