Peel Thunder’s hopes of finishing third on the ladder were broken after a 17-point loss to Subiaco at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday.
The Thunder lead for the majority of the game, but a goalless final term saw the Lions come away with the victory, securing the minor premiership.
Eight Fremantle players played in the loss to the Lions while Harley Balic played limited minutes in the Peel reserves side.
Anthony Morabito
Morabito used his run and carry well to break the game open from the back half and finished with 21 disposals and nine marks.
Ethan Hughes
Hughes worked his way into the game after a slow start, and showed glimpses of excellence in an otherwise quiet game. He finished with 13 disposals and five marks.
Ryan Nyhuis
Nyhuis continues to lean and grow from his experiences a WAFL level, and again was solid in the backline. He finished the game with 14 touches and four marks.
Josh Deluca
Deluca took up a run with role on Subiaco’s Leight Kitchin, keeping him to just nine possessions in the first half. His ability to run back and assist in the defensive half was impressive and he finished with 17 disposals, five tackles and six clearances.
Matt de Boer
De Boer continued his solid form in the WAFL, gathering 33 possessions and 13 clearances with a heavy opposition tag.
Jack Hannath
Hannath performed strongly in his ruck contests, finishing with 47 hitouts for the day. He also amassed 13 disposals and four marks.
Tendai Mzungu
Mzungu played his role and floated back into the defensive half to stop the Lions’ run forward. He finished with 18 disposals, four marks and four tackles.
Clancee Pearce
Despite a hamstring injury, Pearce had a solid performance for the day. He finished with 18 disposals, six marks and three tackles.
Harley Balic (Reserves)
Balic was on limited minutes after returning from a wrist injur. It was a strong performance, winning 30 possessions and 11 clearances, nine of which were from centre bounces.
